Horsemanship Level - Grade 7-12

Description: Learn the safest way to work around horses through a safe riding environment with certified instructors. Attend classes that teach you the key topics in care and working safely with the horses, which will give you greater confidence. Do daily upkeep of the horses-feeding; brushing, saddling and stable management. Through this week you will work towards becoming a Certified Level One Western Rider with the Certified Horsemanship Association. Riding both in the arena and out on the trail and finishing up the week with a small horse show to demonstrate what you have learned. On top of this you'll learn Biblical principles that could make a world of difference in your life.


Horsemanship Camp Level 2 (Elite) - Grade 7-12

Description: After completing Level One and achieving the necessary requirements to progress to Level Two you are now ready to further your knowledge in the equine field. With more time in the saddle riding both in the arena and on the trail you will start to learn more difficult maneuvers and advanced care of horses. Learn to wrap your horse's legs, look for sickness, bandage wounds and expand on what is required to own your own horse. On top of all the fun, you will encounter more of what God requires of us and His unfailing love for you.  

 Horses in Ministry (H.I.M.) -  Age 15-17

Description: This is the life of a trainer, early mornings, late nights, sore bodies and big smiles. Not for the faint of heart! If you want to just ride horses here and there then sign up for Horsemanship Camp not HIM. During the HIM program, you will learn to work with horses at every stage of their development. Learn the training technique of round penning, equine health care, dealing with behavior issues and arena work. Be stretched in your ability to work with horses and to train them from the ground up, relying on the safe teaching of certified instructors and allowing God to give you the courage and strength to see it through.

On top of all this you can discover more about your relationship with Christ and interacting with kids at camp and staff who will lead you in challenging devotions. Your thinking "Wow that's a lot of work" well don't worry there will be plenty of laughs, horsing around and memories to last a life time.

Canadian Cowboy Challenge Association Clinic

Description: This is the clinic you have been asking for - here's your opportunity! Learn how to prepare and develop a great horse for the challenge of Extreme Cowboy Racing. Prepare yourself physically, mentally and emotionally to compete at your level in Extreme Cowboy Competitions.

  • You will eat, work and ride at River's Edge Camp and experience original Extreme Cowboy Courses
  • The clinic will include practice Extreme Cowboy competitions with an open invitational the last day of camp.
  • You will learn the In's and Out's of judging and what the judges consider a great ride.
  • Jon Cooper and the other special guest instructors will teach you the "behind the scenes" of promoting a race and how to create your own courses at home.

Be ready to RIDE HARD & RIDE SMART.  We welcome all breeds of horses and riders of all disciplines and riding levels! Feed will be provided by the camp.  Any special feed or supplements is the responsibility of the horse owner. Boarding arrangements for horses can be made with River's Edge Camp.
